Shire Connections: Turriff Show Business Breakfast

[ 02-08-2010 ]

Following the success of the first Business Breakfast at the Turriff Show in 2009, we are pleased to offer another this year. Chaired by Peter Cook the well known Aberdeenshire based agricultural economist and consultant the panel will include Mark Taylor of the Scottish Crop Research Institute who will discuss - Future Proofing Scottish Agriculture.

Agriculture is facing a wide range of new challenges both globally and nearer to home. Mark will discuss the science-based solutions to some of these challenges. This will include problems arising from the effects of climate change and the challenges of understanding how to improve the quality of crops. Mark will also discuss how the new scientific technologies may translate into improved cultivars.

The panel will also include Danny Sawrij of Scot Proteins Ltd part of The Leo Group Ltd. The Leo Group Ltd specialises in the collection and processing of animal by-products into meals, oils and pet food ingredients which it supplies throughout the World. Danny will discuss the plans for his new company Scot Proteins Ltd at Kintore which will provide a local facility for the recycling of animal by-products thereby reducing waste management costs for local food processing businesses.
