SCC COMMENT ON SCOTTISH MANUFACTURED EXPORT FIGURES
[ 01-04-2010 ]
Commenting on the publication of figures today which show that Scottish manufactured exports rose by 2.9% in the fourth quarter of 2009, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“These figures confirm our view that the manufacturing sector demonstrated strong resilience to the recession, and the fact that exports grew throughout the second half of last year underlines the importance of increasing internationalisation among Scottish businesses.
“Our economy will benefit from more businesses, in manufacturing and other sectors, looking towards new markets and expanding their horizons globally. That means that we must ease the paths to international trade and deliver appropriate support to firms as they look to trade overseas. Chambers of Commerce across Scotland have expertise to offer here and a valued global brand, and this is one reason why we are expanding our services to businesses through our new Scottish Chambers International division.”
