SCOTTISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE WELCOME EXPECTED ANNOUNCEMENT ON UK BUSINESS BANK
[ 24-09-2012 ]
Scottish Chambers of Commerce Chief Executive Liz Cameron has commented ahead of the announcement of the creation of a British Business Bank expected from Business Secretary Vince Cable at the Liberal Democrats’ party conference in Brighton later today.
“Scottish businesses will absolutely welcome the announcement of the creation of a British Business Bank. Chambers of Commerce have heard for several years the call from businesses across Scotland – the banks are not fulfilling their needs, and they require support to make the investments that will enable their businesses to grow, creating much-needed jobs.
“We also welcome the commitment of £1 billion funding – serious money is required to ensure that this initiative is a success. The creation of the business bank is a key intervention from Government to support our economic recovery, and has the potential, if done properly, to be the single most important economic boost that Government could provide. It must be competitive, affordable and easily accessible, to achieve the maximum potential economic impact.
“This must be a long term commitment from the UK Government to support our country’s businesses to grow our economy.”
