BCC SURVEY POINTS TO CONTINUED SCOTTISH GROWTH

[ 07-01-2014 ]

The British Chambers of Commerce’s Quarterly Economic Survey for the fourth quarter of 2013, published today (7 January 2014), has indicated that the Scottish economy continued to demonstrate strength towards the end of last year.  Commenting, Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:

“This latest UK-wide survey indicates that Scotland’s economy is continuing to show signs of strong growth towards the end of 2013 and our hope is that this can be improved upon during 2014.  Next week, Scottish Chambers of Commerce will be publishing our own more detailed survey of business performance and expectations in Scotland and we will be looking at the prospects for a number of key business sectors.

“Early indicators are that 2014 could be the year when the economic recovery is cemented and there is every reason for optimism, but nothing can be taken for granted and businesses will require continued attention and support from our governments at a Scottish and UK level.”

Ends.

Note: The Scottish Chambers of Commerce Quarterly Business Survey for the fourth quarter of 2013 will be published on Thursday 16 January 2014 and will cover a number of key sectors, including manufacturing, construction, retail and tourism.
