Perthshire Chamber Event: Making The Circular Economy Work
Hosted by Tevi, this online session brings together sustainability professionals and businesses that have successfully contributed to a circular economy transition in Cornwall, Scotland and the Netherlands.
An interactive Q&A session will be moderated by Tevi and Steffen Boehm, Professor in Organisation and Sustainability at the University of Exeter Business School, and aims to reconcile best practice approaches. About the speakers
Tevi is an ERDF-funded programme supporting Cornish SMEs to grow while contributing to Cornwall’s environmental growth priorities and circular economy transition. Tevi currently supports over 350 enterprises through bespoke consultancy services, challenge networks and a grant scheme. The programme’s circular economy aspects are led primarily by the University of Exeter’s Business School, which will be represented in our session by Professor Steffen Boehm. Tevi is delivered by the University of Exeter in partnership with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Cornwall Council and Cornwall Development Company.
Circle Economy, based in the Netherlands, aims to accelerate the practical and scalable implementation of the circular economy. As an impact organisation, they connect and empower a global community to create the conditions for systemic transformation. Circle works alongside businesses, cities and governments to identify opportunities to make the transition to the circular economy and provide a powerful combination of practical and scalable solutions to turn these opportunities into reality.
Circular Tayside is an ERDF-funded programme administered by Zero Waste Scotland. The programme is delivered by a partnership between Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce and Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and it aims to help local businesses and organisations transition towards a circular economy. The project was launched after a 2018 report identified a financial potential of £404 million for Tayside businesses that would adopt circular economy practices. Key sectors are construction, manufacturing and agriculture. Circular Tayside aims to help local businesses in the transition towards a circular economy and offers access to Zero Waste Scotland support that includes free webinars, workshops, 1-2-1 support, business consultancy and grant funding. With the carefully tailored range of support, we can help businesses at every stage, from idea generation, to market analysis and funding for project development.

Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly – Boost Innovations: Founded by Samathan Jackman, Boost creates innovative products made from recycled materials that boost mood and confidence. Boost’s first product is a breast form, designed for women who have undergone a mastectomy, that is both breathable and beautiful. Their work challenges the assumption that a breast form needs to imitate skin tone. Boost has been working with breast form wearers to develop a product that suits their needs and pocket.
The Netherlands – Baby Exchangerie: Founded by Julie Munneke, Baby Exchangerie is a leasing service for baby clothing, making high-quality products available to parents that are on a limited budget and considering the ever-changing needs of the child. Rentals can be by the item or in the form of packages, which are then returned when no longer needed or in use. The enterprise will be represented by Puck Middelkoop.
Scotland – Kinross Wooden Products Company Ltd: John has worked within the office furniture & built environment industry for over 30 years. In the late 1990’s John founded Ogilvie Ross, a specialist furniture consultancy working with the public sector to identify ways to reduce the environmental impact of furniture and develop furniture management programmes which greatly increased the product’s lifespan. In 2019, John and his wife Kirsteen, set up Kinross Wooden Products Company Ltd to specifically focus on remanufacturing office furniture for public sector and larger private clients. Today John is a recognised authority on sustainable furniture production and ethical end of life programmes.
