SCC comment on Scottish Government Paper calling to extend the Brexit Transition Period
03-06-2020
Commenting on the publication of COVID-19: The Case for Extending the Brexit Transition Period and the attached ministerial statement made to the Scottish Parliament today (3rd of June), Dr Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce said:
“The UK Government must take the sensible economic decision on whether to extend negotiations and they must be honest with businesses and employees on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
“Irrespective of this, the business issues remain the same: retaining jobs, rebuilding the economy and ensuring a competitive and an affordable cost base. These should be the central drivers which will enable us to continue trading with our EU and global partners.”
