SCC comments on review of Business Rates

Charandeep Singh BEM, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“The announcement from Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth is welcome and Scotland’s businesses will hope it proves to be a step towards meaningful reform of non-domestic rates in Scotland.
“Scottish Chambers of Commerce has been calling for an urgent overhaul of the current system for a number of years and it was listed as a top priority in our Plan for Growth, which was published earlier this year.
“Our members across Scotland consistently raise concerns about the revaluation process and the impact it has on investment and business confidence at a time when the high cost of energy, labour and materials is already stifling investment and the creation of jobs.
“We are glad the Scottish Government is listening to our representations, and we stand ready to work collaboratively to help deliver changes that benefit Scotland’s economy.”
