SCC respond to UK Government announcement on post-Brexit border controls

12-06-2020

Responding to the UK Government’s announcement today (12 June) that it will be accelerating planning for border controls at the end of the Brexit transition period, Dr Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce said:

“Scottish businesses will welcome the UK Government adopting a pragmatic and practical approach to customs procedures at the border.

“The Scottish Chamber Network has long called for the UK Government to prioritise flow across the border, not revenue or additional bureaucracy, when the transition period comes to an end. We continue to urge Ministers to avoid adding any additional costs or compliance procedures to businesses who are already dealing with major trading challenges due to the coronavirus crisis.”
