SCC Scottish Election Reaction

11-05-2026

Commenting on the outcome of the 2026 Scottish Parliament Election, Charandeep Singh BEM, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:

“On behalf of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce Network, I’d like to congratulate all MSPs elected this week and to the SNP for emerging as the largest party in the new Parliament.

“Our shared national priority is delivering economic growth, and we look forward to working constructively in partnership with the Scottish Parliament and the next Scottish Government to achieve this.

”Businesses have consistently told us that the past five years have been exceptionally challenging. Persistent cost pressures, reducing business confidence, and increasing regulation burdens have held the business community back.

“Now is the time to reverse these trends. Not all the solutions sit within the Scottish Government’s control. However, they do hold levers for infrastructure, skills, and competitiveness that can restore investment confidence and create a stronger environment for economic growth.

“Our Plan for Growth has set out an ambitious, dynamic path forward for Scotland’s economy. Businesses now want to see our ambition matched by urgency and delivery from the next Scottish Government.

“We have a straightforward message to every MSP elected to represent Scotland’s communities: back business and work with us to unlock economic growth.”
